Yoga with Melia - About Me - Melia with dog

I started practising yoga in 2006, after noticing that classes at the local gym relieved the tension in my neck and shoulders from office work.  My personal practice has progressed over the years through the guidance of several teachers, and I enjoy the balance of strength and flexibility that comes with daily yoga asana practice.

I am grateful to be mentored by Jean Campbell of Melbourne Yoga Shala, a specialist in yoga anatomy and injury management.  I believe that the benefits of yoga should be accessible to everyone, and that practice can be tailored to suit all levels of skill and body condition, including injury and rehabilitation.  I teach yoga with the intention of providing practical tools that can be integrated into the demands of daily life to improve physical and mental wellbeing.

Through my own experience in dealing with stresses from a career in finance, I have found that yoga is a great way of stilling the mind and promoting mental clarity.  I am studying the effects of yoga on mental wellbeing and I look forward to sharing breathing and meditation techniques with students.

My personal yoga journey has been, and will continue to be, one of infinite learning.  It is a privilege to be able to contribute to the yoga journeys of my students.

See you on the mat!
