Why have private yoga lessons?

Personalised yoga is ideal if you have a specific issue or injury you would like to address, in the privacy of a one-to-one session. These sessions ensure that you will progress in the safest and most efficient way, as each practice is tailored to your needs. In the larger class formats commonly offered at studios and gyms, it may be daunting to speak up about an injury or stop doing a posture that does not feel right for your body, however private yoga classes will allow you to develop an understanding of your own body and how poses should be adjusted to suit your body.

It is also perfect for those who are too busy to make it to a regular class and need something structured to suit your lifestyle and availability. Whether you are a senior executive who cannot spare the time to commute to yoga, or a busy parent unable to leave the baby at home, private classes will allow you to have a regular practice that fits into your schedule, in the convenience of your home.

If you are a beginner to yoga practise, private yoga lessons are a great way to ensure that you learn the correct alignment of poses and the appropriate way to enter, hold and exit a posture. It is sometimes difficult to progress to more advanced postures if you practise in a larger group class setting as the teacher may not be able to provide the individual attention required to ensure your safety. Private lessons will allow for progression at your pace.

I can come to you at your home or workplace in Melbourne with all required equipment, all you need to provide is a quiet space to fit 2 mats.

Lesson Description

Prior to your first class, I will ask you to complete a confidential form to understand your state of health, whether you have any injuries and the goals you have in mind for your yoga practice. This form allows me to tailor the classes and progression to suit your requirements.

The first class will begin with a short sequence of poses to assess your level of strength and flexibility, then I will sequence the remainder of the class accordingly. At the end of the class, I will provide a written tailored short practice to encourage self practice during the week. As your practice progresses I will offer modifications and more advanced postures to safely suit your level.

I will bring all equipment required, however you are welcome to use your own mat if preferred.
